Toral: The Internet is your ocean By Janette Toral Digital Filipino
I’m actively blogging again as a I build the content for the second volume of the Philippine Internet Review.
As I post new story items and update them, I noticed that the orders for Volume 1 have started to come again. Truly, using blog as a medium for buzz generation works.
Businesses and freelancers should explore how they can use blogs, theirs or someone else’s, to create awareness and keep customers posted on product developments.
Blogs also allow a certain level of informality where you can start with a short post and gradually expand it. You can also give your readers an opportunity to interact with you, give insights and suggestion to what you’re doing or offering. It can create an ocean of opportunities for you.
Fostering innovation. Last week, I shared the idea of creating an innovation network. The concept is two-pronged. Normally, a person who has a great idea will be looking for people who can help him or her implement it by adding funds, for instance. It can be a one-time project and the funding may come as a loan to be repaid or one that involves sharing the revenues of the business. Of course, for other parties to help out, an environment of trust needs to be established.
Although there is nothing new about this, there was a lull for these kinds of activities. These days, the enthusiasm is there once again and I guess the growing number of Internet users in the country meant greater market possibilities than before.
The feedback that I got is most heartwarming and new ideas are coming in every day on how to make it operational. As a result, on Sept. 19 and 20, the innovation network will be launched in Manila and Cebu City, respectively.
Within the same week, it will be launched in Cagayan De Oro and Davao, too. I’ll keep you posted once the venue for the activities is finalized. I hope the business community will embrace it, too.
There are challenges on intellectual property sharing and funding but I hope these issues will be sorted out prior to the launch.
E-Commerce Information Kit. I’ve been getting a lot of inquiries on how to go about their e-commerce initiatives. In response, I created an e-commerce information kit that interested parties can access at http://www.digitalfilipino.com
PNB Internet Banking. Finally, I got the chance to activate my PNB Internet Banking. It is a breeze to be able to monitor your account and pay bills. The site gives an email notice after successful payment of bills and you can access your account activity up to one year. I must admit, though, that the initial sign up process was slow as the website had to download an application. But once done and activated, the effort was well worth it.
