Lear loses bid for WBO Asia-Pacific belt
The World Boxing Organization Asia-Pacific Bantamweight title went back to Thailand after Johnny Lear failed to win the belt last Tuesday.
Lear, lost to former world champion Ratanachai Sor Vorapin by a fourth round technical knockout in Ban Pak Klong Beach in Prajuap Kirikan, Thailand.
Ratanachai who lost the WBO bantamweight belt to Mexican Johnny Gonzales reclaimed the regional belt he relinquished in May 2004.
With the Thai getting much momentum and motivation, Lear found himself in deep trouble forcing the abrupt ending of the scheduled 12-round bout.
The victory improved Ratanachai’s record to 67-9, 45 KOs, while Lear dropped to 15-13-1, 5 KOs.
On the same card, Sherwin Paro also lost his fight to Pramuansak Posuwan by unanimous decision after six rounds.
Pramuansak improved to 33-1-1, 18 KOs while Paro dropped 17-6, 9 KOs. (RCM)
