Mexican dares Pacquiao to force him into retirement
By Mike Limpag
Sun.Star Staff Reporter

According to a report from a national daily posted at Philboxing.com, Morales was visibly mad when asked to comment on Pacquiao's earlier announcement that he will force the Mexican legend into retirement after their third fight.

"Let him tell that to me, to my face," Morales reportedly said.

During the press conference, both Morales and Pacquiao were cordial at each other with the 29-year-old Mexican, dubbed "El Terrible" asking his fans to believe in him once again.

Losses

Morales, who also lost twice to Marco Antonio Barrera, has lost three of his last four fights, while Pacquiao won his last three fights since losing to Morales in their first encounter.

Morales has also blamed his lack of conditioning for the loss against Pacquiao last March 19, and is slated to start his preparation early for his second rematch.

Philboxing.com also reported that the prestigious Ring Magazine, considered as the bible of boxing, has reportedly refused to award its title for Morales-Pacquiao III.

Top 2 only

Ring Magazine chief editor Nigel Collins turned down the request of Nicolas Khan to recognize the winner of the match as champion of the magazine’s 130lb. division, which is vacant. Khan co-manages Pacquiao’s career together with Shelly Finkel.

The Magazine, which awarded its own title to the fight between Pacquiao and Barrera, said it is their practice to award the title only if the top two fighters in its ratings are fighting.

In its latest rankings, Pacquiao is number one, while Morales is ranked third. Barrera is second and Jorge Barrios fourth. (With RCM)
