Martin’s Awit Ng Puso
One of the most colorful careers in music belongs to Martin Nievera, pioneering OPM love song culture ever since he started in 1982.
Two decades of heartwarming tales of the heart through indelible hit after the other, Martin showcases a 14-track tribute album to the best OPM songwriters and singers of all time entitled Awit Ng Puso which is now available in stores.
Also known as the “Concert King”, Martin Nievera’s new album is a collection covering OPM love classics that have swept everyone’s heart in the past and have scaled the charts on radios. First single is a remake of When I Met You borrowed from the APO Hiking Society which became popular in the ‘80s.
When I Met You will soon be accompanied with a music video on top music channels directed by Treb Monteras.
Martin Nievera’s other hit-making covers of timeless and beautiful songs from the biggest names in local pop music industry included in the album are Kahit Na, originally sung by the Divine Diva, Zsa Zsa Padilla; May Minamahal, popularized by Hajji Alejandro and was composed by Willy Cruz; Sharon Cuneta’s Sana’y Maghintay Ang Walang Haggang also composed by Willy Cruz and Baby Gil; he also does a composition of Ogie Alcasid in the song Kailangan Kita, originally sung by Gary Valenciano for a movie of the same title and also been popularized by Piolo Pascual.
Martin also does WITHOUT YOU borrowed from Joey Albert; a remake of Kuh Ledesma’s I Think I’m In Love which was written by Cecile Azarcon; another Willy Cruz’ composition is Love Without Time sung by Nonoy Zuniga; I Believe In Dreams, popularized by Janno Gibbs and also from Side A Band’s remake; an all-time favorite love song, Closer You And I, a Gino Padilla- original from the ‘90s; Sinasamba Kita from Rey Valera’s greatest hits. Martin sings You of Basil Valdes hit in the ‘80s composed by the late Gerry Paraiso.
Also included is Martin Nievera’s duet with Regine Velasques in the song Kailangan Ko, Kailangan Mo is originally duet by Richard Tann and Bambi Bonus. From the contemporary Filipino classics from the past 30 years, a new original composition of Louie Ocampo and Freddie Santos of the song In Love is also included as Martin’s wrings out how it is being in love through this ballad.
Awit ng Puso is a follow-up to Martin’s album released in 2005 called When Love Is Gone which boasts 17 tracks of songs for the broken heart, is now certified Platinum album which has sold 15,000 units all over the country.
Martin was also awarded as the 19th Awit Awards (2006) as Favorite Male Artist of the Year and awardee for Dangal ng Musikang Pilipino Award.
