Economic forum set today

Manuel Reyes, a consultant of the Manila Water Co., will be a reactor in the 3rd Sun.Star Economic Forum to be held today at the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino.

The Sun.Star Economic Forum is an annual presentation and discussion of economic issues and business opportunities in Cebu. With this year’s theme, “Powering Cebu towards Greater Competitiveness,” the forum will focus on power and water infrastructure.

Reyes will react to the speech of Metropolitan Cebu Water District chairman Juan Saul Montecillo on the topic “Is the well running dry?”

Energy Secretary Raphael Lotilla will give the talk on power, with his reactors to be Luis Alfonso Y. Aboitiz, executive vice president and chief operating officer of the Visayan Electric Co., and Edwin Semilla, director for the site services department of Fairchild Semiconductor.

Reyes has been a consultant for the World Bank for its small and medium-scale lending program in Thailand, as well as its build-operate-transfer transactions in infrastructure, energy and transportation in Manila. He has also provided con-sultancy services to the Department of Finance for its privatization. (PR)
