Cebu City veteran triathlete posts comeback win in Cagayan de Oro
Showing that age has not slowed him down, Abet Biagan of Cebu City, a former member of the Philippine team, posted an impressive win at the Cagayan de Oro City leg of the Speedo National Age Group Triathlon series 4th leg last Sunday.
Biagan won his 30-35 age-group title with the event’s best time of 1 hour, 32 minutes and 26 seconds.
Finishing 2nd overall to Biagan in the 1-kilometer swim-30km bike-7km run event was Neil Catiil of CDO (14-19 champion) with 1:36:42, and Edson Blanco (25-29 champion) with 1:43:02, also of CDO.
On the distaff side, Cagayan de Oro's Joan Manaloto easily won the women's 30-over title by finishing 2:09:21, way ahead of Davao City's Anthea Kuhnel (14-19 champion, 2:32:32), and Lulani Grace Deleste (30-over 2nd place, 2:48:07).
Not to be outdone in the race was a contingent of Cebuano triathletes that includes Neil Reyes (35-39 3rd place), Ric Dizon (50th overall), Mark Ubinar (25-29 3rd place), Alvin Abarquez (19th overall) and Rene Joseph Balbuena.
