Webmasters nail third place after Cesafi elimination round
The University of the Visayas and the University of San Carlos will enjoy a twice-to-beat advantage in the semifinal round after bagging the top two spots in the Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (Cesafi) basketball tournament.
On the other hand, the third to sixth placers will play each other in the quarterfinal round, with the winners earning the right to face the top two teams in the final four.
Yesterday, the University of Cebu got third place after Cesafi commissioner Felix Tiukinhoy applied the tie-break system.
The University of San Jose-Recoletos is fourth, while the University of Southern Philippines got the fifth spot.
All three teams finished the elimination round with identical, 3-3, win-loss records.

On the other hand, the Cebu Institute of Technology is fourth with a 2-4 record, while the winless Don Bosco Greywolves is last.
Five-time champion University of the Visayas is on top with a 6-0 record, with the University of San Carlos a surprising second with a 4-2 card.
USC lost its first two games but managed to claw back by sweeping its final four matches.
This Saturday, CIT will take on DBC.
In the high school division, the University of Cebu took the number one spot after beating USP, 90-81, for its sixth straight win. USP is second with a 5-1 card.
The UV Baby Lancers are at third with a 4-2 card, while USC and CIT hold identical 2-4 record, with USC getting the fourth spot for having defeated CIT. (JAF)
