Kalit wins team time trial
Team Kalit registered the shortest time to win last Monday’s Team Time Trial of the Recycle’s Road Cyclist of the Month race at the North Reclamation Area in Mandaue City.
Kalit, which is composed of Ricky and Johann Ermitanio, Jojo Juezan, Junjun Canasa and Ramsey Villaver, completed the 19.6-kilometer race in 31 minutes and 38 seconds.
Third
Team Spark Kleen-Velonauts’ Xerox Lauron, Dexter Lapuz, Taer Lambo and Ian Colina registered a time of 31.45 minutes to take second place, while Lapu-Lapu-RUT, manned by Richard Patalinghug, Henry Tampus, Ciano Dignos and John Paul and Orlan Toring, is at third after checking in the finish line with a time of 32.10 minutes.
Recycle top honcho JV Araneta said it was a head-to-head race between Velonauts and Kalit.
“Velonauts held on its time in the first two laps, but Kalit slowly nibbled on the former’s lead,” said Araneta.
Kalit managed to build up to a 20-second lead over Velonauts, which shifted the tide in its favor.
With one kilometer to go, Kalit riders sprinted away, while dropping its last man. Fortunately, the 20-second lead was enough to hold off the Velonaut riders.
Meanwhile, Antonio Nebria topped the Special Category A Criterium event. Vince Earl Cadampog and Randy Carbonera take the next two spots.
Everything came down in the final lap, when, after an entire race of racers exchanging leads, nobody found an answer to Nebria’s attack in the final lap. In the sprint for the second place diadem, Carbonera had the finish line in his sights, when, from out of nowhere, Cadampog sped past him beating him to the finish line.
The monthly race was sponsored by Spark Kleen, Al Figer And South Jersey Cycling Team, Frank Gatdula and LRT, Glenn Rasco, Vellum, Inndependet Fabrications, Pinoybikes.Com. (MCB)
