Strike Force grabs title in bowl tilt

Team Strike Force bagged the championship tiara of the Ladies Division of the second Vice Governor Gregorio Sanchez Bowling Tournament over the weekend at the SM Bowling Center.

The team, composed of Rose Foyle, Bernie Lim, Nicnic Keegan and Salve Tesio, overpowered the other lady keglers, in a special division dedicated to all-girl groups, after logging the most number of pinfalls in the eight-game tournament.

Strike Force knocked down a total of 8,482 pins to take the title. The team finished 13th over-all in the team standing.
Taking second place is San Jose Merchandising Ladies Team.

Composed of Cynthia Kua, Cynthia Uybengkee, Baby Bacon, Jane Gonzales and Jeanette Cabiasa, the team toppled 8,399 pins to take the first runner up diadem.

Salve Regina, on the other hand, settled for third place after scoring 8,383 pinfalls. Salve Regina is made up of Tess Regino, Mila Ang, Inday de Gracia and Precy Genson.

The winning team pocketed P5,000, while the runners-up received P3,000 and P2,000 respectively.

The men's winner is Prima-Lactopafi1, which is composed of young guns Jake Yap, Jomar Jumapao, Jericho Jumapao and Clarence Tiu, which took home a whooping P20,000 for their feat.

Yap also earned an extra P15,000 for winning in the Masters Event, which saw Nestor Longcayana and Jomar Jumapao taking the next two spots.

The cash-rich event is bankrolled by Vice Governor Greg Sanchez. All 36 players who made it to the Masters Event received their cash gifts.

First and second runners up pocketed P10,000 and P5,000. Third runner up to the top 20 player took P1,000 each, while 21st placer to the tailender received P500 each.

Sanchez has been known to support sports programs and held a Men's Open Tennis tournament last year, which had a total cash prize of P1-million. It attracted the top netters of the country. (MCB)
