Seares: Leaving Mary Ann alone By Pachico A. Seares News Sense
Cebu City Asst. Prosecutor Mary Ann Castro is without doubt the most-written-and-talked-about female personality in Cebu.
Once I dared coffeeshop guys to bet against that. No takers.
Mary Ann's job in the fiscals' office made her a high-profile figure. But what has raised her visibility several notches higher is her yen to leap into controversy.
She just can't keep away. Stories
Recall some stories about Mary Ann in the six o'clock news or the day's papers: alleged adultery, alleged involvement in a love triangle that ended in a man's murder, string of admin complaints, cases of questionable behavior, controversial career movements.
She wanted to be a judge and got a lot of flak from everywhere. Castro a judge? Why not, I said then, she would be interesting addition to the bench---at least litigants and lawyers wouldn't be bored to death or sleep.
When she was detailed to Immigration, some thought it would shut off the lights. What could she do at BI? Wrong
Well, they were wrong. She's in the news again. She allegedly meddled in BI affairs, which raised hackles and in turn let out the stink from that office.
Now she's back with the fiscals, presumably with the same capacity for mischief.
Once she pleaded in an interview, I wish media would leave me alone.
Most things she does scream for attention. How can she be left alone?
