Cebu Country Club slips to third place
After a solid opening day, the Cebu Country Club faltered in the second round to slip to third in the Diamond division of the Women's Golf Association of the Philippines Luzvimin Golf Invitational tournament at the CCC greens yesterday.
The CCC ladies scored 188 points—three points less than their first day output—in the second round, for a two day total of 379.
After scoring the lowest point that counted last Wednesday, Mary Kim Hong led the charge for CCC with a round of 52, capped by three birdies and 12 pars, while Stephanie Olea scored 48 and Maite Unchuan, who's 37 did not ocunt on the first day, scored 45. Hannah Wong finished with 43 to cap CCC's day.
Only the best four scores and in the six-strong team will count.
On the other hand, Lovelyn Guioguio kept the charge for Del Monte as she registered a tournament best 57 in the team contest as Del Monte solidified their hold of the top spot.
Guioguio tallied 57 points, after dropping an eagle, two birdies and 14 pars, as Del Monte tallied 192 for a two-day haul of 395. Marian Woo added 50 points, while Eva and Inday Miñoza added 49 and 36 points, respectively.
For the second straight day, Del Monte's team output was dragged down after its fourth best score failed to break the 40s range.
Meanwhile, Sta. Elena scored the day's best output-194-to wrest the second spot from CCC.
Vince Godio scored 55 points on four birdies and 11 pars, while Carina Ricamonte scored 50 to lead the charge. Rio Co and Therese Dabao added 46 and 43, respectively.
It was the same story in the Ruby Division as Alta Vista Golf and Country Club dropped to fifth, while Villamor kept its hold of the lead.
AVGCC tallied 140 points in the second day for a 36-hole total of 288.
Joy Siguan again led AVGCC with 47, while Michelle Lee added 38. Gloria Cañizares and Rosita Uy added 28 amd 27, respectively.
Jo Barredo also led for Villamor as she scored 47 points to help her team tally 149 in the second day and 300 in two days.
Pamplona is at second with 295, while Alabang and Club Filipino is third and fourth, respectively. (ML)
