Barrita: Boss By Eddie O. Barrita
The Cebu City Council passed on mass motion a resolution authorizing Mayor Tomas Osmena to renegotiate the proposed lot swap with Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia.
Maybe, they heard Mayor Osmeña snorting, “I’m so pissed. They’re not my boss. I’m their boss.”
***
Gov. Garcia finds the Cebu City Council resolution “interesting.”
But Capitol consultant lawyer Pablo John Garcia wants Vice Mayor Michael Rama to explain his “Dawat lang ang probinsya og limpyo ani” statement in a privilege speech to put a closure to the issue.
Will Mike Rama retract and say, “Dawat lang ang probinsya og hugaw ani”?
***
Mayor Osmeña threatens to close down the entire Mango Square complex for various violations and impose a P10-million compromise fine on them before they will be allowed to reopen.
Listen to what he said: “Don’t play games with this mayor because this mayor is crazy. I’m not shy.”
Pay up or stay shut.
***
Bantayan Mayor Geralyn Escario was reportedly “frustrated” over environmental lawyer Antonio “Tony” Oposa’s statement that the worst is over for northern Cebu towns, including Bantayan Island, as the oil slick has dissipated and is moving towards Masbate.
Be happy, mayor. But keep the improvised oil spill booms ready.
***
Tony Oposa looks like a prophet of doom when he told Cebuanos to prepare for the worst for the Guimaras oil spill and said, “manguros na lang ta ani.”
When the sea current changed direction, he proclaimed, “the worst is over.”
Don’t blame them Tony, no prophet is honored in his own country.
