Firm introduces platform to speed up WAN By Information Technology
Applications that help information technology (IT) engineers address the limitations of wireless area network (WAN) are already available in Cebu, through systems integrator companies like Micro-D International Inc. (MDI).
MDI is now carrying the WX and WXC application acceleration platforms of US-based Juniper Networks Inc. These platforms accelerate mission-critical applications over wide-area links, according to a company statement.
Wide-area links slow down when organizations or companies with many branches eliminate data centers of their branch offices and centralize these servers in just one or two locations to curb costs on IT.
“(While centralizing servers serve the purpose of cutting costs,) this solution also subjects the enterprise to even greater stress by forcing application sessions to run over notoriously slow wide-area links. The result is poor application performance and response times for remote, mobile and branch-office users,” MDI said.
MDI sponsored a product update seminar held at the Parklane International Hotel last Thursday. IT managers of companies in Cebu participated in the seminar, MDI Cebu branch Randy Pino said.
Juniper’s WX platform defines an architecture for overcoming the limitations of WAN to make the most effective use of existing resources and restore application performance to LAN (local area network) levels.
LAN is a communication network that serves users within a confined geographical area, such as building or complex. WAN covers a wide geographic area, such as state or country. LAN links the network faster than WAN. (JBN)
