Seares: Alex's bomb - or dud
By Pachico A. Seares
News Sense

IBP Cebu City chapter president Alex Tolentino has dropped what looks like a ton of explosives. Which however can turn out to be just a bundle of dud.

He said the other day the lawyers group knows who the vigilante assassins are, how they look, where they live, and who issues the "kill" orders.

Beyond saying they have photos and addresses of the murderers ("first-rate information from a highly reliable source"), Alex is telling little else.

What actually does the Cebu City IBP official have? Why blow the lid now when he is not ready with all the facts yet?

Solid? Or gossip?

I am curious if what he has can support a case in the fiscal's office or can merely raise probable doubt. Is it solid evidence that can put people in jail or is it just a lead for law enforcers to chase?

What I certainly hope against: something Mayor Tomas Osmeña can throw into a bin of exaggerated "tsismis." (Hizzoner's judgment though on rating stories can be dubious: e.g., Tomas labeled the Labra-and-Gwen's-son spat a gossip.)

Alex's moves

Alex talked of giving the information to the Melo Commission investigating the extrajudicial executions. Hint: It may not be the kind of evidence the fiscals can bring to court.

Speculate too about the early p.r. Won't suspects flee or vanish after the Alex announcement?

Wonder then if other Cebu City IBP officials agree with their chief's moves.
