Cesafi All-Star Games unfold this Sunday
It’s all systems go for the Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (Cesafi) East versus West All-Star Games, this Sunday at the New Cebu Coliseum.
In the collegiate division, the starting unit for the East Team are University of the Visayas (UV) Green Lancers pointguard Harry Lanete, forward Jayford Rodriguez and center Rino Berame, offguard Nino Ramirez of the University of San Carlos (USC) Warriors and forward Randy Colonia of the University of Southern Philippines (USP) Panthers.
To complete the team are Morkie Akad and Eulogio Lasala of UV, Vernini Tangarorang, Carlo Padayao, Troy Mercader and Enrico Llanto of USC, Henry Mancera, Mon Rogado, Bryan Travero and Cleford Maguate of USP.
USC coach Jay Ramirez will be the bench tactician for the East squad.
West Team
The first five of the West Team are pointguard Celso Colegado and forward John Lester Sunga of the DBC Grewolves, offguard Allain Abellanosa of the UC Webmasters, forward Mannie Gabas of the USJ-R Jaguars, and center Emilio Aniñon of the CIT Wildcats.
The others are Richard Vargas of DBC, Armand Ponce, Ariel Lozano, Bobby Hatague and Luther Justiniani of USJ-R, Jonathan Canceran and Salvador Cadayong of UC, Sherwin Abobo, Jerry Lumongsod and Marvin Abapo of CIT.
USJ-R coach Edito Salacut is the designated mentor.
In the high school division, comprising the East team are UR Dela Cruz, Franz Dysam, Ephir Elorde, Miguel Marano and Raymund Olivar of the USP Baby Panthers, Chris Camay, Mark Gonzaga, Edrian Lao, Phil Mercader and Louie Lacno of the UV Baby Green Lancers.
Also belonging to the team are Robert Codilla, Jun Bercede, Jose Alocillo, Philip Delo Santos and Joules Ferolino of the USC Baby Warriors.
USC coach Roland Remegio will be mentoring the team.
The West team members include Mark Rago, Gil Panerio, Robinson Mohamad, Bill Connors, Rey Capoy and Paloyo Cabanero of the UC Baby Webmasters, Carlo Agusto, Charles Quiroga and Rex Ybañez of the CIT Wildkittens.
Completing the team, which will be coached by Reggie Licanda, are Clint Caritan, Robert Rentuza and Thomas Corominas of the USJ-R Baby Jaguars, Malvin Malicdem, John Parilla and Chris Lapitan of DBC Baby Greywolves.
A slamdunk Contest and a three-point shootout competition will also add color to the affair. (JSV)
