Don Bosco suffers first loss in 3 years
The Sacred Heart School-Jesuits (SHS-J) served the upset axe on defending Paserelle champion Don Bosco College (DBC), 60-55, and handed the latter its first loss in three years at the 17th Milo Basketball Efficiency Scientific Training, which started last weekend.
It was a hard fall for the Bosconians at their home court in Labangon. They have been on an unbeaten run in the league since they returned three years ago.
SHS-J head coach Johnden Hortellano said they won because DBC could not keep up with their constant running.
“Our advantage is the boys really ran, while DBC was not moving too much,” Hortellano said.
He added they were not very concerned about facing DBC, the defending champion, as they are setting their eyes on the University of Cebu, another highly favored team.
Ed Macasling, who topscored with 13 points single-handedly led the Eagles in the third and final period. He scored eight of his team's 14 third quarter points. Macasling also led the SHS-J defensive to limit DBC to only four points in the third quarter.
In the other Passerelle Bracket A game, UC, now coached by Joever Samonte, scored a lopsided win over University of San Carlos North Campus A, 100-34.
Pierce headed the UC scoring rampage with 20 points, while Alviva and Codilla added 12 markers apiece.
