Japanese IT firm to discuss course offer on Unix OS

A delegation from an information technology (IT) outsourcing company in Japan will be in Cebu to discuss with local universities and government agencies the possibility of conducting a course on Unix operating system.

The Cebu Investment Promotions Center (CIPC) said in a statement that a team from Sahara Systems Corp. will be in Cebu on Sept. 18 to 22 to discuss plans for a four-year course on Unix and establish a pool of qualified graduates for IT engineering work in Japan.

Tools

The company is offering its Unix hardware and other education tools for use in partner schools for free, the CIPC statement read.

CIPC and the Philippine Embassy in Japan set meetings between Sahara Systems executives and local stakeholders.

Sahara Systems hopes that its proposal will introduce Japan to the Philippines as a viable market for IT engineers, especially for Unix experts, CIPC said.

“Should the company’s goals be realized, local universities would be able to produce specialists equipped with the know-how and language skills for the Japanese market,” it said.

The Sahara Systems is an IT consulting company based in Tokyo with branches in Singapore and China.

It offers its services to multinational finance companies in Asia.

It also offers job opportunities for talented IT engineers from around the globe. (JBN)
