Group offers training course on product planning for SMEs

The Cebu Educational Development Foundation for Information Technology (Cedf-it) is inviting small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Cebu to avail of the capability maturity model integration (CMMI) course.

The training aims to teach participants the “best practices” covering a product’s life cycle, from conception through delivery and maintenance.

There is also emphasis on both development stages and software engineering.

Cedf-it executive director Bonifacio Belen said the CMMI is one of the projects lined up by the foundation.

Council

The course will be presented to foundation members on Saturday during a curriculum development forum, in which Cedf-it will also organize an information technology (IT) education leadership council and an education development committee that will determine the foundation’s future trainings.

He said the committee, which will be composed of seven members, will take the place of the IT Teachers Academy, Cedf-it’s flagship project.

Cedf-it is a non-stock, non-profit private corporation composed of the industry, the academe, government and non-government organizations.

The CMMI course outline includes: planning, which involves developing estimates such as project scope, life cycle, budget and schedule for the tasks to be performed; risk analysis, monitoring and control; and, quality assurance or measurement analysis and configuration management.

Participants should have at least a bachelors degree in an IT related course and must have participated in at least one project as a project practitioner, according to a Cedf-it statement. (JBN)
