Mepz II sportsfest opens on Sept 23.

Hundreds of employees in the Mactan Export Processing Zone (Mepz) II will take a break from their work routine to flex their muscles in the Sixth Annual Mepz-II Sportsfest this Saturday at the Tamiya Philippines sports grounds.

This year’s edition, which follows the theme “One Body. One Vision. One Energy.Soaring High Through Sports,” will have 27 teams competing in 10 events, including the centerpiece basketball event.

According to the organizers the sportfest is geared towards fostering the camaraderie among the MEPZ company employees and to maintain a healthy balance between work and recreation.

Aboitizland

The event, organized by the Mepz-Human Resource Association with support from Aboitizland, will kick off with a parade this Saturday, followed by competition in the Ms. Sportsfest and the Marathon Relay.

Mepz administator Sansalua Pinagayao will lead the panel of judges for the beauty contest along with Renato Bohol and Vera Cris Villamor.

Aside from the beauty contest, the cheer dance competition will also kick off this Saturday.

Other events in the yearly event are volleyball for men and women, badminton for men and women, table tennis, dart, chess, and the 9-ball challenge.

Participants

This year’s participants are Ina Micro Opto Corporation, Saturn, Aboitizland, Lear Corp, Phil Iino, Atomed Cebu, Lexmark Intl. Phils. Inc, Hideka Mfg. Inc., Cebu Chase Dental, Olympus Optical Phils. Inc., Merasenko Corp., Teradyne Phils. Ltd., Tamiya Phils. Inc., Sawo, Aboitiz Energy Solutiions, Draka Phils, Inc., KY Polymer, Yamaki Phils. Inc., Matluster Corp., Sofanou Inc., Global Cebu Foods Corp., Cebu Toyo Corp., Koshin NKC Mftg. Phils. Corp., Sports Royal Inc., Phil. Makoto Corp., and Paul Yu Phils Corp.

This year’s overall coordinators are Rose Labucay of Lear, Cecile Micabalo of Ina Micro Opto and Sheila Bucao of Aboitizland Inc. (ML)
