After Erik, I wan’t Marco: Manny

This early, Pinoy boxing legend Manny Pacquiao is eyeing another match against WBC super featherweight champion Marco Antonio Barrera.

“I think I'll definitely fight Marco Antonio Barrera, just not sure when. I think it will be sometime around next year,” Pacquiao told fightnews.com when asked if he’d fight Barrera, provided he wins over Erik Morales.

The 32-year-old Mexican champion recently scored a unanimous albeit

"boring" win over Rocky Juarez, where he earned $1 million.

A Barrera-Pacquiao II could also be the curtain call of Barrera, who said he will retire in 2007.

After losing to Pacquiao in 2003, Barrera has strung up six straight wins, although the last two—both against Juarez—have been widely criticized.

Aside from getting a chance for revenge against Pacquiao, whose status rose after his 2003 win, 15rounds.com said Bar-rera, a three-time world champion, could make the biggest money of his career in a rematch.

Big money

The boxing site estimated that Barrera could make between $2.5 to $3.5 million in a rematch, while the Filipino boxer will earn $4 million.

That is aside from the pay-per-view cut.

However, before Pacquiao can drool on the money on a possible rematch, he must first overcome Erik Morales this November.

Morales is on one of the longest fight-preparation of his career and compared himself to the 23-year-old version of himself.

Pacquiao, himself acknowledge Morales determination.

Hungry

“I'm expecting Erik to be in 100 percent condition. I know Erik will make the weight. Erik is hungry, so I think this is going to be a great fight,” Pacquiao told fightnews.com.

When he was 23, Morales won all his four WBC bantamweight title defense, three by knockout.

According to boxrec.com. Morales stopped Reynante Jamili in six rounds, Juan Carlos Ramirez in nine and Angel Chacon in two before winning by unanimous decision against Wayne McCullough. (ML)
