CCCI and Swac to present the Veg Appeal

It’s a given that urban living and modern technology offer creature comforts unheard of 50 years ago, but has also inadvertently allowed us to take on unhealthy lifestyles: ready-to-eat or 1-6 minute cooking of processed food; sitting in front of a computer the whole day; watching and scanning shows and movies on cable day and night; eating fast food meals on weekdays and weekends. With more time on our hands, we take on more activities to fill up our waking hours and less time to take care of ourselves.

Thus more and more people are taking a keen interest in changing their lifestyles, particularly the food they eat. There’s a great health advantage in a high-fiber, low-fat, low-cholesterol diet, with going vegetarian as one of the best options.

Recent medical findings show that coronary artery diseases rank number one in fatality rate throughout the world surpassing all forms of mortality combined.

Cancer ranks second. Both cancer and heart diseases are directly attributable to the consumption of animal flesh foods.

It is, however, a common misconception that a vegetarian diet would consist of bland, boring, unappetizing vegetable dishes. The thought alone can be repelling to most, but there’s actually more to vegetarian cooking than boiled, buttered, or sautéed veggies.

Nutritional value, availability of ingredients, ease of preparation and of course mouth-watering dishes are the main concerns of LA! Veggie Deli, which will take an active part in the Beauty, Health and Wellness (BHW) 2006 NOW Cebu!

After the much lauded BHW Show 2005, the Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) and the Spa and Wellness Association of Cebu (Swac) bring to the SM Trade Hall the BHW 2006 NOW! Cebu! on September 22-24.

The show will showcase the various establishments and organizations that offer healthy living, beauty enhancements, body and spirit rejuvenation, and active lifestyle options for the Cebuano community and its visitors from around the country and all over the world.
