Be in uniform while on field: top PRO official to personnel

A top Police Regional Office (PRO) 7 official yesterday advised all personnel to wear their best uniform while on field assignment.

That was after Deputy Regional Director for Administration Ronald Roderos noticed a sloppily-dressed policeman stationed along P. del Rosario St.

Roderos, Sr. Supt. Efren Ysulat, and field training officers inspected areas under Parian Police Station’s jurisdiction yesterday as part of Asean summit preparation.

Last Thursday, PRO 7 Director Silverio Alarcio Jr. visited the North Bus Terminal and discovered the laxity and lack of supervision of some field training policemen deployed there.

Roderos said several inspections in Metro Cebu will be conducted until the summit in December.

Alarcio assigned him to take charge of inspections in Cebu City and Senior Supt. Lani-o Nerez for Mandaue City. Senior Supt. Drusillo Bolodo was to oversee the Mactan island troops.

In yesterday’s noontime inspection, all policemen were in their respective posts along Imus Road, at the corner of Colon and Jakosalem sts., and along P. del Rosario St. near the Sto. Rosario Parish Church.

SPO1 Ranulfo Enolpe, however, caught Roderos’ attention.

Enolpe wore a faded General Office Attire (GOA) uniform and unpolished badge. His shoelaces were untied.

“You must use your best uniform,” Roderos told him.

Enolpe was also told to have a cellular phone so he could coordinate immediately with his superiors.

Roderos said the policemen were deployed in different places to train them how to respond immediately and properly to alarms and for them to familiarize the areas where they are assigned.

In an interview with reporters, Enolpe explained that he has a new pair of GOA uniform but just did not wear it yesterday.

He admitted he does not know how to use a cellular phone and is not interested in owning one, saying it usually causes conflict between husband and wife. (JST)
