Bimoli, Dunkin take 1-2 spots in Shaba

Bimoli Cooking Oil and Dunkin Donuts/Gillamac’s ’97 stayed on course in their battle for the top spot as they demolished their foes in the Sacred Heart Alumni Association’s (Shaba) basketball tournament at the SHS-Jesuits gym.

Bimoli is currently ahead of the pack after they logged a 70-61 victory over K-1 with Dave Lim accounting for 20 of Bimoli’s total points to lead the win.

Dunkin Donuts, on the other hand, stayed close to Bimoli after securing the second spot with a 74-37 demolition of Hyundai.

Chance

Walter Ong scattered a total of 28 points to lead all scorers of Dunkin Donuts, which has still a chance of overtaking Bimoli atop the standings, as there are still three games left for each team to play prior from the playoffs.

Stanford Labs ’99 also inked an important 71-54 win over MTO Spies 2005 to strengthen their hold of third spot.

In the other game, Chivas Regal ’96 took advantage of the undermanned opponents, as all of their players contributed in pounding Borplus Pipes, 70-25, with the latter manned by only four players.

The most thrilling win of the night was registered by the Crazy Dragons 02/97, which eased past Kenya 2003, 55-54, with Rod Mangubat scoring 20 markers in leading the Crazy Dragons to victory.

Dividends

The Crazy Dragons and Kenya engaged in a closely-fought match all throughout in the game before the Crazy Dragons’ excellent teamwork paid dividends in the end.

The last victory of the day was tallied by San Miguel 2006, the youngest team in the tournament after they dealt another loss to bottom-dweller GEF-Koppel ’98, 53-46.

Patrick Jacobe, the leading Rookie of the Year candidate, led the charge of San Miguel with a 16-point production.
