Prince to open another outlet near ports, CH

FORESEEING a boom in business at the vicinity of the Malacañang sa Sugbu, Cebu-grown Prince Warehouse Club Inc. (PWCI) will expand its wholesale and retail business by opening its seventh outlet at the site of the old Metropolitan Cebu Water District (MCWD).

To set it apart from nearby commercial establishments, PWCI will establish a retail center similar to Tiange! Tiange! in Greenhills, Manila. The retail center will occupy the ground floor of the old MCWD office building.

The Prince Warehouse Club outlet will occupy the top floor of the same two-story building.

Robert Go, PWCI president, said the two establishments will open on Oct. 6.

In an interview last Wednesday, Go said the company also aims to stimulate urban renewal projects in the downtown area to bring back its “lost glory.”

“We found the place strategic, as it is right across Cebu City Hall, near the Malacañang of the South, near the entrance of the SRP (South Road Properties) and very near the Magellan’s Cross, a tourist attraction,” Go said.

PWCI spent about P10 million for the renovation of the building, which the company named MC City Square. The company signed a long-term lease contract with MCWD in July yet.

Rhea Go, chief operating officer of VisCebu Development Corp., said the company’s version of the Tiange! Tiange! would have 50 tenants selling different types of merchandises from bags, cell phone accessories to shoes.

VisCebu, sister-company of PWCI, will handle the operation of the “tiange.”

“The tiange is air-conditioned. It also has big, clean comfort rooms and a generator set,” she said.

Rhea said all the slots for the tiange have been filled except for a 170-square-meter area.

“We are looking for a lessee to operate any service-related business, such as spa, Internet or a restaurant,” she said.

Robert said the company has hired 20 security guards to secure the entire commercial complex, especially at night. (JBN)
