Tuesday, October 03, 2006 After loss, Suico starts comeback with OPBF title fight in Mandaue
COMING from a heartbreaking defeat to Juan Diaz, Randy “Kumo’ng Bato” Suico will start all over gain as he seeks for another chance for a world title crack.
Suico’s first step—to win the Oriental and Pacific Boxing Federation (OPBF) lightweight title right in front of the Mandauehanons.
Suico, who suffered a TKO loss on the ninth round when he challenged Diaz for the WBA 135lb belt last July 15, is trying to regain his confidence when he fights OPBF No.7 lightweight Pongpetch Chuwatana for the vacant regional belt on Oct. 14 at the Mandaue City Sports Complex.
Record
Suico, who is holding a dangerous 24-3, 21KOs ring record, enjoys a superior ring record over Pongpetch who is carrying a 9-14, 7KOs win-loss card entering into this bout.
If Suico wins the WBC-affiliated regional title, he is expected to move up to the No.5 rating from the current No.8.
However, a defeat to the unseemingly dangerous Pongpetch would mean goodbye to his boxing career.
