Yap runs away with Cetba crown
JAKE Yap put on an impressive performance to run away with the Cebu Tenpin Bowling Association September Bowler of the Month last Sunday at the SM City bowling center.
Yap was the only bowler to consistently top the 200-pin barrier in all eight games, as he finished with 1,885, a comfortable 203 pins clear of second placer, Jomar Jumapao, who scored 1,682.
Yap set the tempo with a 247 in the third game and upped the ante with an impressive 266 in the fifth to stretch his lead. Both scores were the top two highest in the tournament.
Jumapao’s best effort came at the seventh frame as he tallied a 244, but it was too late, as he settled for the runner-up honors.
Rey Velarde, who plays with a handicap of six, bagged third place with 1,655 pinfalls, finishing just 20 points ahead over fourth placer Jericho Jumapao, Jomar’s brother.
Alex Damole, Leo Codilla, Nestor Longcanaya and Wlliam Lao took the next four spots.
Damole, a 10-handicapper, registered 1,596 for fifth, two points ahead of Codilla.
Nestor Longcanaya dropped 1,592 pins for seventh, just one point ahead of William Lao. Joey Barbas took the ninth spot 1,589 pins and Christopher Foyle closed out the top ten with 1,575 pins. (JAF)
