Salon owner ‘hesitant’ to open more outlets
CEBU could no longer accommodate another “spa” operator.
At least with the way Cebu and the entire country has used the word spa, David Charlton, president of David’s salon said.
The word “spa,” which basically means relaxing in water, is already being maligned, he lamented.
“Spa, the way we use it, is not anymore what it is all about. Everybody uses the word spa,” he said.
This, aside from Cebu having a very competitive spa industry, is why the company is hesitant to open one in the area.
Competitive
“We will wait until the market is settled down (that is, until the market knows what spa really is all about),” Charlton said.
The company has six outlets in Cebu. All are partnerships with Cebuano entrepreneurs.
Josephine Murillo-Tel-ford, Charlton’s partner in its outlets in SM City Cebu, Robinsons mall, Gaisano Country Mall and Mactan, said the salon has been performing well in the area.
“The beauty market is a growing market despite its being a competitive one,” she said. (JBN)
