Thursday, October 05, 2006 Upstart Orais tames ‘The Eel’
HUNGRY and determined Rey Orais knocked out the highly touted Noel “The Eel” Tuñacao in Dumanjug Sports Complex last Tuesday.
In Naga, Danny Boy Bontilao also stopped Joel de la Cruz in the SGG Sports Promotion’s card held in Naga Sports Complex.
Orais connected a well-timed uppercut on Tuñacao’s mid-section to put down the fancied opponent at the 1:28 mark of the third round of the Rex “Wakee” Salud (RWS) promotion fight.
Tuñacao displayed a glimpse of his elusive defense on the first round when Orais, who is trying to make a name in the RWS stable, went head hunting but failed.
Frustrated by his slippery opponent, Orais shifted his attacks to the body starting on the second round, before finishing the fight with a heavy right.
Super bantamweight Jumar Labiogo scored a unanimous decision win over veteran Romeo Buhawi after eight rounds, while Alfonso Ferando scored a third round TKO win in two seconds after the third round bell over Jimboy Casiple.
Also, Jimbert Lamoste scored a unanimous decision win over Ronnie Peñonal, while Rolando Irag had a split draw with Jonathan Nacua.
In Naga, Joseph Omania made an auspicious professional debut by scoring a first round knockout over Jomar Cabusas, Jessie Albarracikn pulled a TKO win in 2:18 mark of the first round over Jujith Aredidon, while Brix “Bomb” Ray and Rex Malibago figured in a draw. (RCM)
