Friday, October 06, 2006 Resto reopens due to food biz ‘boom’
WITH the growing demand for grilled dishes and the boom of the food business, a restaurant reopened after a four-month renovation.
“There is still a growing demand for grilled foods here in Cebu and even the food business here is still a booming industry,” Anton’s Restaurant general manager Julian Ha said.
Hole In One (HIO) Corp., a Korean-owned company, now manages Anton’s restaurant in Lapu-Lapu City, which is a 20-minute drive from Cebu City.
Cost
An estimated P10 million was spent for the restaurant’s renovation, which has a total lot area of 4,000 square meters, Ha said.
He told Sun.Star Cebu that the restaurant still capitalizes on its seaside location, which makes it “ideal for private getaways” and family gatherings.
Capacity
“The view is spectacular at night because of the city lights in Cebu and the ships that pass below the (Mandaue-Mactan) bridge makes it even more romantic,” Ha said.
The restaurant, which opened last Tuesday, now has an expanded dining area that accommodates 500 to 800 guests.
Targeting the upper to lower middle market, Anton’s selections of international cuisines include Korean, Japanese, European, and Filipino dishes.
“Eighty percent of the chefs are Filipinos,” Ha added.
Affordable
HIO Corp. managing director Brenda Enrile said that because they offer affordable rates, some of their menus are priced below P100, mostly grilled di-shes.
Enrile added that apart from sea food, the restaurant offers acoustic music, has a videoke room, fishing area and ample parking spaces.
Since most restaurants are preparing for the Association of Southeast Asian Nations summit, Ha said they are ready for the arrival of foreign visitors.
“Since it’s just a five-minute drive from the Mactan Cebu International Airport, they will never miss the place,” Ha said. (MMM)
