Friday, October 06, 2006 Cebu’s nursing students hold Nursing Idol search
THE controversial nursing June board exami-nations may have put their spirits down, but with the Philippine Student Nurses Association (PSNA)-Cebu Chapter’s restored visibility and leadership, nursing students from different universities in Cebu are now in a unified mode to attain inter-school cooperation.
The officers of PSNA-Cebu, led by its president Alvin Cloyd Dakis, have organized the search for Nursing Idol 2006.
At 6 p.m. tonight, about 4,000 to 5,000 nursing students will gather at the University of San Carlos-Main gymnasium to witness how the 15 finalists will flaunt their singing prowess and shine to bring honor to their schools.
PSNA-Cebu has designed the search to be a good start of ensuring cooperation among schools.
“Our goal is motivate the nursing students and empower them to be-come participative in academic, community and industry-related affairs that provide them not only holistic development but also increased nursing knowledge and skills, preparedness as would-be nurses and awareness of social responsibility.
We also want everybody to know that PSNA-Cebu exists as an active catalyst for human, skill and holistic development of healthcare professionals. You should see our interactive site www.psnacebu.org,” Dakis urged.
The winner of Nursing Idol 2006 will serve as an ambassador of health and goodwill and will be privileged to perform at PSNA and Philippine Nurses Association’s occasions.
The winner will also get a scholarship from Cebu Music Learning Center, Art Dynamics Cebu and RA Gapuz Review Center.
With Nursing Idol having gotten the support of ABS-CBN, IPI, RA Gapuz Review Center, Cebu Music Learning Center, i-FM, Purefoods, Home Radio FM, Celebrity Photo Studio and Cafe Theatro, the event is seen to help achieve its thrust of promoting camaraderie among nursing students in Cebu province.
In a meeting with Nursing Student Body Organization representatives from various schools, Dakis motivated the future nurses to be proactive, dynamic and responsive, especially in its upcoming events, such as Student Convention in November, the Personality Development Seminar in January 2007, Sportsfest and Mr. and Ms. PSNA in February 2007, among others.
