ALA Boys made a pretty good impression as they conquered Japan with astounding victories at the IMP Hall in Osaka, Sunday evening.
Of the six Cebuano boxers seeing action in one card, beat their Japanese opponents, with ALA Boy Rocky Fuentes taking a dramatic split decision victory over the formerly undefeated Yuki Nasu after 10 rounds.
Fuentes’ fellow ALA Boy Robert Allanic proved too much for Hiroaki Kusunoki, following his TKO win at the 2:47 mark in the eighth of the scheduled 10 rounds.
SGG Stable’s Louie Bantigue was not to be outdone, as he easily knocked out Saturo Uchida in just 2:05 in the first of the scheduled four rounds.
Bantigue’s stable mate Federico Catubay was not as lucky as he lost to Takahiro Hisataka by unanimous decision after 10 rounds.
After the heated exchange, Hisataka won all scorecards 99-91, 98-93 and 98-93 to improve to 14-3-1, 4KOs. Catubay’s record dropped to 18-11-3, 11KOs.
Stunning knockout
Rex “Wakee” Salud fighter JR Sollano also pulled a stunning knockout victory over Hayato Takabayashi at the 2:37 mark of the first round in a scheduled 10 rounder clash.
His stablemate and the reigning Philippine lightweight champion Dexter Delada, however, did not get much luck as he fell at 52 seconds of the second round, for a knockout loss to Koji Samejima.
Fuentes, ranked OPBF No.9 flyweight, took the upperhand all the way keeping the previously unbeaten Nasu in his game to pull a 97-93, 96-94, 94-96 decision win and improved his ring record to 16-5-2, 10KOs. Nasu dropped to 12-1, 9KOs.
Superior skills
Allanic, on the other hand, improved to 15-1, 7KOs after proving his superior punching skills against Kusunoki, who dropped to 10-5-2, 8KOs.
Bantigue (11-5-4, 4KOs) unleashed a wicked left uppercut to the jaw of Uchida (2-4-2), who fell like a log with the blow.
Sollano, on the other hand, landed a right hook to finish off the aggressive Takabayashi and improved his record to 9-5, 7KOs. The Japanese dropped to 11-10-3, 7KOs.
Delada put down Samejima with a right hook in the first round but failed to see his opponent’s right coming early in the second, as he suffered his fourth defeat in 20 fights. Delada dropped 16-4, 11KOs, while Samejima improved to 14-1-1, 5KOs. (RCM)
