Hotel opens sans much ado, still attracts walk-in guests

DESPITE lack of media attention, a hotel near the Cebu Business Park is “doing well.”

Minus the usual marketing noise, Golden Prince Hotel Inc. (GPHI) launched last Sept. 25 Golden Prince Hotel and Suites, an eight-story building with 58 rooms on the corner of Acacia St. and Archbishop Reyes Ave., Cebu City.

Sitting on a 4,200-square meter property, Golden Prince Hotel and Suites managing director Benny Que said the establishment is capitalizing on its ideal location — being close to malls, restaurants, hospitals and churches.

“The look of the hotel is more of a condotel,” Que said.

He said the establishment targets business travelers, foreign visitors, overseas Filipino workers and local guests.

Rates

Room rates are “affordable” but Que said management is offering discounts of up to 35 percent.

The hotel offers the usual amenities, including Internet connection, restaurant, business center and function rooms. It is also equipped with 24-hour security service alarms.

Que said despite the absence of media attention, the hotel is “doing well.”

“We have observed that even if we have not yet fully marketed and advertised the hotel, we see people coming in, so I can say the location is really perfect,” he said.

He said GPHI will consider future expansion as soon as the hotel business has “stabilized.”

In an interview with Sun.Star Cebu, Que said GPHI “might” venture into housing projects for the middle market.
GPHI also owns Golden Valley Hotel located on Pelaez Street, Cebu City.

Seeing a “boom” in the province’s hotel industry, Que is encouraging other players to invest.

“We want (other) industry players to continue investing so that the province will be able to cater to local and international conventions,” he said. (MMM)
