Wednesday, October 11, 2006 My conscience is clear: Bobby; widow apologizes for outburst
BROADCASTER and Sun.Star Cebu columnist Pablito “Bobby” Nalzaro showed up at the Homicide Police office to shed light on his alleged involvement in the killing of a car artist last Saturday afternoon.
Nalzaro was invited by investigators after Mildred Torres, live-in partner of slain victim Dante de la Torre, dragged his name in the killing.
Cebu City Councilor Sylvan Jakosalem, also a broadcaster, accompanied Nalzaro.
Nalzaro spoke with SPO2 Jay Yballe, Homicide chief investigator and Homicide Section Chief Erlando Metante. He said it was purely coincidental when he mentioned de la Torre’s name in his radio program two days before the attack.
“My conscience is clear,” Nalzaro later told reporters.
Nalzaro said he will not pursue his plan to file a case against Torres after watching a taped interview of her apologizing for her “emotional outburst.”
Torres even asked Nalzaro in jest to help finance her batchoy and paklay business now that de la Torre is dead.
Nalzaro said that much as he wants to, he can’t give Torres what she asked for as the gesture might be misunderstood.
De la Torre had been in jail for four years for breaking into Nalzaro’s car last July. He was gunned down at 4 p.m. Saturday, on Greenside St., Barangay Hipodromo.
Torres, who was with de la Torre when he was attacked, was wounded in her right leg.
Torres went on to accuse Nalzaro of masterminding the shooting. (JST)
