Speak out: Problem with vehicle

This is to bring to your attention an unfortunate experience my client, Audionet-Axis Telcom Inc., had with Volvo Philippines, the country’s distributor of Volvo cars.

Audionet-Axis Telcom Inc. bought one unit last February 2006 intended for the use of its CEO, Mr. Salvador P. Gonzales. The car was a Volvo S80 and was sold to him for P3,195,000.

The car was bought directly from the distributor in Manila (Viking Cars Inc., at 2272 Pasong Tamo Ext., Makati City) as Cebu did not yet have a dealership office at that time.

It had to be shipped here. It took three days to arrive.

Then it never got used until recently because of constraints related to work. The mileage on the meter (3,914 km.) speaks for itself.

And, other than the Volvo, he also drives a few other company-owned cars.

However, a mere three months after he began using it for city driving, the car developed trouble which manifested itself as grinding sounds emanating from the undercarriage.

We referred the matter to the distributor and were told to approach the local dealership, which we were informed had opened last April 2006.

The car went in and out of the dealership’s shop repeatedly but the problem persisted.

And when we communicated directly with the distributor to request that they send a technical person to assist in the problem, that request was ignored.

I hope that my client’s plight reaches the people behind Volvo Car Corp., the international firm that distributes these otherwise superb vehicles locally through Volvo Car Philippines, that they become more efficient in its after-market sales services.
