Children's Month By Tita Dulce Festin-Baybay That's right
OCTOBER, Kidsters, is your month. It’s Children’s Month. Many activities centering on children are being held this month, in case you haven’t noticed yet.
When a month is devoted for a certain cause, the agencies or organizations involved with children, in this instance, do a lot of awareness raising. This means there will be a lot of publicity, radio announcements, events involving children, among others.
For example, Bantay Bata 163 program of ABS-CBN Foundation, Inc., a member of the Lopez Group Foundation, Inc. is holding a caravan and when they go to Cebu on Oct. 28, there will be activities such as medical mission, registration of children with no birth certificates, and talks on the rights of children.
Many radio and television programs are also focused on children. Since this is Children’s Month, I would also like to give you a tip on how to make certain causes known to the public or the community concerned. This is by holding an activity or an event.
The most popular is by having an art workshop or contest, a sportsfest, or even an exhibit. This is usually done in schools, or even in gymnasiums or conference halls. Sponsors are usually politicians, corporations, and prominent individuals of the place.
And when there are sponsors, there are also a lot of give-aways, which adds to the attraction of the event. But this takes time to prepare. At least three months. So maybe next year, you can think up of something as an activity.
So Kidsters, you still have two weeks to celebrate Children’s Month. Make those around you know the importance of children in the world today. After all, you are the future leaders of this country. Children are our hope for the future!
