Tuesday, October 17, 2006 BIR to give abatement to taxpayers
THE Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR)–Cebu Region is encouraging all taxpayers with existing delinquent accounts or assessments as of June 30 to avail themselves of the abatement program.
Under Revenue Regulations 15, 2005 and Revenue Memorandum Order 23, 2006, the abatement program will cover delinquent accounts or accounts receivable cases, income tax on second installment cases and dishonored checks cases.
Protest
BIR Regional Director Jaime B. Santiago, in a press statement, said the program will also cover cases with administrative protest pending before different BIR offices, assessed cases, whether preliminary or final, as of June 30 and civil tax cases being disputed before the Department of Justice and other courts.
The abatement program will also include collection cases filed with the courts, cases with pending request for compromise settlement under BIR regulations.
Violations
It also includes cases with pending request for abatement under Revenue Regulations 13-2001, failure to withhold withholding taxes discovered upon audit and criminal violations except those under the Run After Tax Evaders program.
The program will also cover letter notice cases and accounts payable or due to BIR account duly recorded by taxpayer.
Taxpayers need to pay an amount equal to 100 percent of the basic tax, using BIR Form 0605.
The deadline for the availment of the abatement program will be on Oct. 31.
