Tuesday, October 17, 2006 Call center applicants to get free English training
TO INCREASE a job applicant’s chances of qualifying in a call center, a local training center is offering a free one-day training for the American English Enhancement Program.
“This will be an opportunity for everyone to experience—at no additional charge—how it is to speak the proper American accent, which is commonly used in the call centers today,” said Learning Elements for Advanced Development (Lead) Career Mover general manager Jerry de Leon.
Enhancement
In a document furnished to Sun.Star Cebu, Lead Career Mover said the program used to be considered a single module for the entire program for Professional Enhancement for Call Centers.
However, due to the “strong impact” and a significant improvement in the skills of its trainees, Lead Career Mover has decided to make the module an entirely new program.
According to the document, the program is a product of a “tedious” process of compilation of different competent and tested teaching materials and “world-class” techniques applied to ensure maximum trainee benefit.
Program
The program does not only include techniques in proper pronunciation but also includes the practical use of the English language.
In an earlier interview, Lead Career Mover chief executive officer Eric Lasala said the training center, in general, aims to enhance the skills of individuals to motivate them in their chosen profession, “not necessarily in a call center.”
The training will be held on Oct. 19 at the Lead Career Mover center in 5D JL building, Don Jose Avila St., Cebu City. (MMM)
