Prima rules Quisumbing bowling
THE teenagers-laden Prima-Lactopafi team overcame a sloppy start in capturing the first-ever championship tiara in the Gabriel Luigi Quisumbing bowling tournament held Sunday at the SM Bowling Center.
The Prima-Lactopafi squad, bannered by team captain Micmic Miranda, Jericho Jumapao, Jomar Jumapao, Kiddo Veloso and Jake Yap, logged in the most number of pins toppled in the eight-game series to snare the title and pocket the P10,000 top purse.
The victory, though, wasn’t an easy one for Prima-Lactopafi as they won with a hair-thin margin over the eventual second place winner, Vice Mayor and Company.
Handicap
Including handicap, Prima-Lactopafi accumulated an eight-game overall total of 6,404 pinsfalls or just 12 more over Vice Mayor and Company, which registered a total of 6,391 pinfalls.
After trailing behind Vice Mayor and Company in the first six games, Prima Lactopafi banked on their solid endgame performance in Game 7 to finally overtake the former, 5,617 pinfalls to the 5,611 of VM and Co.
After taking over the driver’s seat, Prima-Lactopafi never looked back again until they secured the title.
The Vice Mayor and Company team, which is manned by Limasawa Vice Mayor Melchor Petracorta, Mario So, Johnny Dai, Clifford Tan and Ging Francisco, received P8,000 cash.
The Phone and Gadgets bowlers- Ben Miranda, Ernest Tan, Warren Tecson and Joseph Yu- tallied a tournament total of 6,128 pinfalls to bag the third spot and take home P6,000 cash.
Pinfalls
The San Jose Merchandising squad of Rey Velarde, Ronan Barredo, Renato Reyes and Baby Bacon, on the other hand, inked a total of 6,104 pinfalls to secure the fourth place, while team Opascor, which is made up of Isaac Tindoy, Fel Alasagas, Nilo Martelino and Edgar Albaño, complete the magic circle of five.
