Glo prods tanods:Help watch out for terrorists

PRESIDENT Arroyo yesterday ordered the tapping of barangay tanods in Metro Manila and other urban areas to augment the security forces in the light of more terror attacks anticipated, following the bombings in Mindanao last week.

Arroyo, during the 8th CEO Forum of the Semiconductor and Electronics Industries in the Philippines in Makati City, assured that the law enforcement agencies are on top of the situation, but the government needs everyone’s cooperation to ensure a stronger fight against terrorists.

She said terrorism is all over the world and it is important for Filipinos to unite to become the “best fighters against terrorism.”
“I call for broader alertness in reporting suspicious activities, even as calmness and sobriety mark our everyday work and livelihood,” Arroyo said.

“The strong cooperation between a vigilant public and our security forces will deny the terrorists any room to carry out sinister plots. Let us make this fight a responsibility and duty of one and all,” she also said.

Reports said two members of the Rajah Solaiman Islamic Movement members, who are trained by the Jemaah Islamiyah, are plotting to bomb Metro Manila.

The President lauded the informants who tipped off authorities on other attempted bombings in Mindanao, resulting in the foiling of more attacks. (Sunnex)
