Pepito plays Springdale in 12-Under

POWERHOUSE teams Paref Springdale and Pepito FC will take on each other in the opening day of the Aboitiz 12-Under Cup at the Cebu International School grounds.

The two teams will clash at 3 p.m. Saturday while host CIS will play in the curtain raiser at 1 p.m. against FC Inter Lapu-Lapu. In the second game, Bright Academy will play San Roque FC.

On the other hand, defending champion Don Bosco College, which is fielding two teams, will take a bye as its players are taking their quarterly exams.

For this year’s U-12 Cup, DBC is seeded first, with runner-up Pepito at second. Based on this year’s football festivals, Springdale, Pepito and DBC have consistently taken the top three spots, with Bright Academy pulling the only surprise when it defeated Springdale for the San Roque Football festival title.

Meanwhile the Cebu Football Association is staging the first two weeks at CIS and will move the event to the Sacred Heart School-Jesuit field in Ayala on the third week.

After the 12-Under Cup, CebuFA is expected to kick off the Men’s Open later this month, to give the champion team ample time to prepare for the Regional Tournament early next year. (ML)
