Sugbu seeks Cebuanos’ help

WITH only a win in four outings, Tribu Sugbo is seeking to sweep its five remaining home games in the 2006 Spring Cooking Oil-NBC National Cup.

Top four

“We are hoping to make it to the top four. A loss in the remaining games would complicate our chances,” Tribu Sugbo coach Al Solis said during yesterday’s Scoop forum.

Tribu Sugo is calling on the support of the Cebuanos to boost his wards’ morale.

“We badly need the support of the Cebuanos in trying to win all our games,” said Solis, who lost a lot of key players including Jercules “Jojo” Tangkay, who now plays for the Welcoat Dragons in the Philippine Basketball Association.

Solis also said his team needs to jell better.

Tribu Sugbo is composed of Randy Sevilla, Gaylord Santos, Alex Cainglet, Vergel Abelong, Marvin Mercado, Kim Calo, Don Yabut, Miguelito Ducay, Doroteo Almacin, Mark Ababon, TJ Caparros, Jeross Ceniza, Fritz Gonzales, Enting Ramoneda, Tidol Reyes, Niño Sayud and Brian Lariosa.

Tribu Sugbo is currently at seventh place with a 1-3 win-loss record and they are targeting their second win against the Bulacan Cellular Pawnshop tomorrow in Minglanilla.

Third win

On Monday, Tribu Sugbo will face the John Osmeña-Cebu team at the Cebu Coliseum.

Meanwhile, Pagadian City nailed its third straight win after routing Cellular Pawnshop, 93-81, and the number one spot with a 3-0 mark.

Melvin Mamaclay, a former Adamson University Falcon, scored a game-high 26 points to lift Pagadian, while Peter Naron, Bong Marata and Nelson Asaytono added, 17, 14 and 13 points, respectively. (JAF)
