Tribu Sugbu downs Cellular Pawnshop

THE Arthro/Skygo-backed Tribu Sugbu moved closer to the .500 mark as they mugged the hapless Cellular Pawnshop, 89-76, in the 2006 Spring Cooking Oil-NBC National Cup the other day at the Minglanilla Sports Complex.

Valencia Golden Harvest, on the other hand, remained focused in the final quarter to beat Bacchus/Harbour Centre-San Juan, 92-87, at the Valencia City gym in Valencia City, Bukidnon.

The University of the Visayas (UV) Green Lancers connection of Mark Ababon and Joseph Ronald “Baby Shaq” Quiñahan led the onslaught of coach Al Solis’ wards in keeping the Cellular Pawnshop winless after four games.

Back-to-back

Today, the Tribesmen will be gunning for a back-to-back win when they play against newcomer, Osmeña-Cebu, at the Cebu Coliseum at 7 p.m.

The battle between the Tribesmen and Osmeña-Cebu, which is owned by former senator Sonny Osmeña, will also proved which is the best team in the city as both squads try to make impressions among the basketball-loving Cebuanos.

Tribu Sugbu started the blitz early versus Cellular Shop as they erected an 11-point wall at the end of the first quarter and stretched this to 50-31 at the half.

Cellular Pawnshop managed to slow down the offense of the Tribesmen in the second half but it wasn’t enough to dislodge the Cebuanos from the driver’s seat.
