WITH the addition of 4,500 military personnel to the security forces for the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean) summit, the Police Regional Office (PRO) 7 is directing all units to be extra vigilant in checking documents of military personnel carrying firearms.
In a memorandum dated Oct. 23, the PRO 7 informed all units that the Central Command is requiring all their personnel bringing their issued firearms to present a set of documents.
This is to comply with the security measures the PRO 7 has implemented for the 12th Asean summit in December.
All military personnel should be able to present a mission order, a memorandum receipt and a military identification card that is not expired.
The memorandum stated that these documents are only applicable for government issued firearms.
If they are bringing personal firearms, they are required to present the firearm license and a permit to carry firearm outside the residence (PTCFOR).
“The required documents for presentation when carrying firearms outside of the residence shall also cover/include all PNP personnel and other law enforcement agencies and civilians alike,” the memorandum read.
Centcom recently welcomed members of other units from the country who will be augmenting the security forces in Cebu for the summit.
These included the Marine Battalion Landing Team (MBLT) 7, members of the Army’s 46th Infantry Battalion, the Army’s Light Reaction Company of the Special Operations Command, the 1st Scout Ranger Battalion under Centcom, the 2nd Tactical Operations Wing and the Special Operation Wing of the Philippine Air Force, K-9 teams, Explosive and Ordnance Division teams, Civil Disturbance Management Unit, reservists, medical service units and intelligence task groups.
