Tuesday, October 31, 2006 Solon tops Alta Vista monthly golf
ENRICO Solon scored a 1-under 71 to tally the lowest gross in the Class A Division of the Alta Vista Golf and Country Club Monthly Medal over the weekend.
Solon started strong with seven straight pars in the front nine before birdieing the eight to go one-under going into the back nine. Solon’s string of pars continued in the next five holes before he hit a bogey in the 14th, the lone blemish of the day.
On the other hand, Mark Aliño took the Class A title title via countback over Antonio Sabuga, after both golfers tallied a round of 66.
Recovery
Aliño started badly with a bogey and a double bogey in the first two holes but recovered nicely with birdies on the fifth and ninth holes.
Sabuga had a similar start, and hit a bogey in the first hole before evening the count with a birdie in the eighth to end the first nine at par.
In Class B, Alberto Rolando took home the title over Gerardo Quintos, while Aniano Gabasa tallied the lowest gross with a 75. Rolando scored a round of 63, just one ahead of Quintos.
In the Senior division, Virgilo Chua bested Rolando Santos via stroke to take home the crown. Chua scored a round of 65, while Santos tallied 66. Teodolo San Juan took the third spot. (ML)
