THE Mandaue Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) and the Cebu Furniture Industries Foundation (CFIF) are giving Cebuanos the opportunity to do an early Christmas shopping for export quality gifts.
The MCCI and CFIF, in partnership with the Canadian International Development Agency-Private Enterprise Accelerated Resource Linkages 2, has organized a five-day grand export sale, which will kick off on Nov. 17 at the SM City Cebu trade hall.
The event is a “mega showcase of all export quality products at very affordable prices,” a statement said.
“This is our pre-Christmas offering to the public. Also, this is an opportunity to let our constituents enjoy export quality items that are not regularly available in the local market,” it said.
Earlier, Laura Boquirin, member of the board of trustees of CFIF, said some exporters are now turning to the local market to cope with declining export sales due to the strengthening of the peso to the dollar, and the softening of the international market in general brought about by the unstable prices of petroleum products in the global market.
Items to be displayed at the export sale are furniture and home furnishings, arts and crafts, fashion accessories, fresh and processed food, Christmas decors, gift items, garments and raw materials such as abaca and raffia, among others.
Aside from the grand export sale, empowering seminars will also be conducted this month. (JBN)
