Speak out: Dato Arroyo's candidacy
By Amado F. Cabaero
Tigaon, Camarines Sur

As a Bicolano, I am angry at the announcement of Rolando Andaya, erstwhile Bicol congressman now secretary of budget and management, that the President’s youngest son, Diosdado Ignacio “Dato” Arroyo, though not a Bicolano, will run unopposed to take his place in Congress as representative of the first district of Camarines Sur. It is as if aside from Andaya and Dato Arroyo, nobody else in Bicol is worthy of representing the district in Congress.

Andaya is obviously angling to use his position and the President’s son to wangle more government money for his district. Not that his district or the entire Bicol region does not need more money, but the plan smacks of wizardry or the art of making money appear where there is not enough. Or disappear. I guess that’s what got Andaya his job.

So, what else is new in the Arroyo administration?
