500 sign up for Mabuhay Golf

A RECORD field of over 500 golfers comprising company presidents, top professionals and other captains of business and industry will tee off Nov. 10 for the 2006 Mabuhay Miles Invitational Golf Tournament at the Eagle Ridge Golf and Country Club.

To accommodate the large field, the event will be played in three courses for the first time of its 14-year history.

Competition will be in four handicap divisions for the men, plus the ladies division. Class A and the ladies will play a t the Dyue course, Classes B and D will play the Faldo course, while Class C will tackle the Norman course.

Annual event

The 18-hole event—which is an annual gathering of the elite and premier elit members of Mabuhay miles—will be played under the System 36 handicapping format.

Among the confirmed players are business heavyweights Rod Feliciano, chairman of DHL Philippines Corp; Shi-nichiro Yamana, president of Philippine Sinter Corp, Renato magadia, president of Zuelig Group, Alberto Villarosa, president of Security Bank and Martin Cook, deputy CEO of HSBC.

On the other hand, Cebu will be represented by Jusy Uy, president of Profood International Corp; Godo-fredo Alcantara, president of Pert Inc.; Joselito Parco, operations director of General Milling Corp.; Benjamin Solon, territory manger of Exxon Mobil; and Michael Go, director of American Express Bank.

Last year, Lucio Tan, executive vice president of Fortune Tobacco Corp., scored a three over par 74 to take the lowest gross honors, while Stewart Go, president of Philippine Fabri-koid, netted a round of 68 to finish the overall net champion.

Both will return to defend their crowns. (PR)
