Monday, November 13, 2006 CPPO chief orders cops to wear uniforms when using police cars
CEBU Provincial Police Office (CPPO) Director Vicente Loot has warned his officers against driving marked police vehicles while wearing civilian clothes.
This was after Police Regional Office (PRO) 7 Director Silverio Alarcio Jr. called his attention about the matter.
Loot, in his memorandum sent to police station chiefs, office chiefs and to the group director of the Provincial Mobile Group, said Alarcio has noticed the failure of some designated drivers to wear the proper uniforms in driving police marked vehicles.
“Please be reminded that this is a wanton disregard of previous guidelines on the strict implementation of the above subject,” Loot said.
Loot directed all heads of offices to “strictly monitor” their subordinates in enforcing standing guidelines.
He said to make sure all personnel driving police cars, blue jeeps and other marked vehicles should be properly dressed.
As for unmarked vehicles used in covert operations, personnel need not wear prescribed police uniforms.
“Any recurrence of the same in the future will be dealt with drastically,” Loot warned. (MEA)
