CPPO wants stricter registration of boats

THE Cebu Provincial Police Office (CPPO) has instructed all police stations to coordinate with their local government units to facilitate the registration of pump boats.

This after police received intelligence reports of “communist terrorists” from the neighboring island of Negros transporting explosive ingredients with the aim of disrupting the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean) summit next month.

Transport

In a memorandum, the CPPO said the communist rebels planned to transport explosive materials “at any opportune time.”

This is why they were ordered to coordinate with the Philippine Ports Authority and the Philippine Coast Guard to establish police assistance centers in areas with seaports.

Monitor

They were also directed to tap the services of the Bantay Dagat Commission to help monitor the entry of illegal materials, communist rebels and other criminal elements into Cebu Province.

To maximize intelligence monitoring, they were further directed to get in touch with the barangay intelligence network to find out if they heard of the planned activities of the communist rebels.

“As part of the security preparations of the upcoming Asean summit, you are directed to coordinate with the LGU’s and facilitate the conduct of pump boat registration in your area of responsibility,” the memorandum read. (MEA)
