CIS, Pabol bid Sweden hopes goodbye

CEBU International School and PaBol football teams bid the Sweden Gothia Cup goodbye after bombing out of the Girls 16 battle of the 11th Alaska Cup Football Festival yesterday at the Ayala Alabang Country Club Fields.

The two Cebu teams both managed to make it to the quarterfinal round but it was the best they could muster as they lost to their opponents.

CIS bowed down to Faith Academy, 0-1, while Pabol suffered defeat in the hands of Brent International School, 0-1.

Players

CIS is composed of champion players Gabi Mercado, Amanda Darza, Monica Moraza, Janine Negrosa, Danica Ronquillo, Danica Wanamacher, Presley Cunningham, Stephanie Sharpe, Danielle Lotzoff, Alyzza Gonzales and Caroline Aboitiz.

PaBol members, on the other hand, have Althea Lua, Mithella Muller, Nikki Sembrano, Charmaine Badilles, Julienne Canoy, Erika Casas, Patti Liu, Bea Maximo, Jackie Ting, Ban-Ban Yu and Christine Mantos.

Only 9 players

In yesterday’s game, however, PaBol was playing with only nine players as Lua and Canoy were downed by sprained ankles that had them sit out their quarterfinal game.

The Girls 16 team was supposed to be the selection process for the Gothia Cup in Sweden next year. (MCB)
